The whole idea of blogging, writing, expressing a certain issue is possibly the best kind of writing, creating little or long chapters on a screen you can simply scroll down and read word for word how your works developed. When I did my art foundation last year we had to create a blog to help develop our projects and final project.
The other day we had a little technical talk all about how to develop our blogs. Help being creative about how to create the right questions and how to represent properly what on earth we as Makeup artists and even researchers are trying to say.
Looking, talking and expressing ourselves in words and photos.
We were given a list a 'Strategic List'
pretty much what you'd expect from a list of ideas. the whole who what when and why are listed.
For another exercise (and yes our homework) we looked at a fashion blog part of the one pictured below, our lecturer asked us using the techniques we discussed.
Now lets begin; note this is a made up piece the photography isn't my own.
There I was one day walking down Horizon Avenue, Venice LA just popping out after a heavy night of drinking at a friends when I noticed it. Painted on the wall of a music shop "SURFING COWBOYS"; the sun was shining on it in the early morning sunlight the large tree about 10 metres away was creating a contrasting shadowing on the wall.
Over the next couple of days I walked past the Muriel over different periods of the day capturing with my Canon 500D the different lighting that the wall caught. Yet no lighting could compare to my hungover haze I captured the morning.
Then one day almost like I having deja vu; walking home from my friends birthday party in a 1/4 drunken haze that lighting was there. The perfect glow striking against that unique quote. Half walking half jogging I ran the half a mile back to my friends; figuring I had a good hour until the lighting would ruin I woke up the nearly 23 year old princess dressed her in her tennis whites and created a shot on the sidewalk, with a bed head and all. Lets say my model wouldn't get out of bed unless she was bribed with breakfast after.
The shot for me is so angelic, look at her. Arms juxtaposing her positioning. Pointing her arms and stretching her legs almost like she a rising angel stuck on the Urban street. The white of her outfit is striking even more in the bright light.
This shot is unique maybe not in a never created way but the fact that the "Surfing Cowboys" is the main priority I see first in the photo is great I don't notice only my gorgeous friend I notice I wall and the light. The photos positioning isn't perfect I know the wall isn't the only back drop, creeping into the corner is a car and fence just slightly in the view. At the time I hardly noticed it but when I did I was glad. The lighting is perfect but the photo shouldn't be, its not planned its was in the moment; How great is that? .
Where have all the Surfing Cowboys gone?
